The service manuals can be had in paper or CD format. Either way, call mercedes in NJ directly at+1 (800) FOR-MERC . or+1 (203) 573-0600 The CD set lists for 99 to 129$ (depending on chassis). They have the following manuals:All the CD's are scanned copies of the paper books and pages can be printed as you need them. They make for entertaining reading if you have nothing else to do on the weekend.
- Chassis
- Engine
- Climate Control
- Electrical Troubleshooting
- A "representative" owner's manual
Currently, service CDs are available for every car from 1949 through about 1994 (see below). More are comming in 2001.
Don't bother with the haynes and chilton's manuals, which are both less than useless.
Do visit ebay, but AFTER calling the 1-800 number to find out what the real prices are. There's no reason to pay more than retail if you don't have to and it does happen.
