A few years ago a Mercedes commercial here showed a seminar presented by
Mercedes engineers, touting their accomplishments over the years. The audience
were engineers from other carmakers. The Germans held forth... "...and in 1954
we introduced fuel injection..." (the others all murmered); "... and in 1959,
the disc brake..." (same response); then the speaker gets a twinkle in his eye
and says with a slight smile "...and last year we even added a cupholder..."
and with that the others jump up, shouting "We had that first!"
