My mechanic says the "front pump" of my tranny is leaking, 280SE 4.5. Its orange tranny fluid coming out. The front seal (a radial seal ring) on the front pump is leaking. Sorry to tell you this but repair means either removing the engine or removing the transmission. Once either component has been removed, the seal is easy to replace and not especially expensive.
